Trying Ubuntu GNOME

This time I'll be running Ubuntu GNOME by using The Live Session.
Its important to get ISO image file of Ubuntu GNOME so that we can start Ubuntu GNOME without installing it. After installing Ubuntu ISO image file we can burn it either in CD/DVD or in USB flash drive. Steps for installing Ubuntu GNOME can be seen here so I'll avoid any explaining it here.

To start Ubuntu by using Live Session you must run that ISO file wherever you have burned it and then you'll see this welcome page appearing.

Just press enter where its written Try Ubuntu GNOME without installing and then after some time it will start.

What can you do in Ubuntu GNOME ?

Well there are so many application which you can try and yes there few games too which are really great.

1. Abiword - We can use Abiword which is pre-installed in it and its really easy to use and working in this is really great. You can open Abiword by Activities > Click on search > Type Abiword.

2. Browser - Ubuntu GNOME has pre-installed browser which is not that bad and its work smoothly and yes there is Mozilla Firefox browser too. You can open this by searching it from activities area (top left).

3.LibreOffice Applications - There are many application like LibreOffice Writer , LibreOffice Draw which is well designed and easy to use application. Just like in this picture I have used LibreOffice Draw showing how to open LibreOffice Draw application and I have made it in just less than 5 minutes which was really a great experience. It can be found in left menu bar in activities area or you can search it and open it.

And there are more application available in Ubuntu GNOME where you can do different task.

3 Thing which I like about Ubuntu GNOME :

1. Easy access to various sites : Like if someone has to see his Google+ account then for sure normal people will go to their Browser and then open Google+ site and then they will login and then it will start. But Hey, if you got Ubuntu GNOME then you have easy and quick access to your Google+ profile because that is already installed in it.

2. Performance : In Ubuntu GNOME not a single time I have experienced lag. It runs really smoothly even if I have opened more than 5 application in different workspaces it still runs fine without lag.

3. Changing Workspace quickly : Ubuntu GNOME provide 4 workspace where you can easily take record of what you are doing and you can easily divide your task on those workspace and if it comes to changing from one position to another then you can either do it with mouse or by keyboard. Since many programmer's believe that only using keyboard for their work is much faster because changing hand from keyboard to mouse takes time, so if we use Ubuntu GNOME we can save time like ctrl + alt + arrow key for changing workspace. For example for moving down we'll use ctrl + alt + down.
So I can say that using Ubuntu GNOME might be little bit more productive for our work. And for me it was productive for writing this blog.

3 Things which I dislike about Ubuntu GNOME

1. No icons : Many times I have tried installing software but after installing it doesn't put icon on desktop which I dislike. Still having software icons in desktop will be much better but still it's not that important.

2. Battery Consumption : After switching from windows to Ubuntu I have noticed that Ubuntu takes more battery than other OS.

3. Switching workspace from last to first :  Suppose in every workspace I have some application running and if I am working on the fourth workspace which is the lowest one and if I want to go to the uppermost one only by using keyboard then I'll have to pass those second and third workspace (using ctrl + alt + Up 3 times) which means I am not able to jump directly from fourth to first.

Overall Ubuntu GNOME is worth trying and it can be little bit productive.
